Ruvumbu Washing Station, once cooperative owned processing around 100MT of coffee cherries, is now under the ownership and management of a private investor, processing 250 MT of cherries for the first time this year. Ruvumbu uses a single-disc McKinnon depulper and raised drying beds. Rwanda Trading Company is responsible for milling and exporting 100% of Ruvumbu’s parchment and green coffee. Despite the small volume from Ruvumbu, the station has some of the best quality coffee in Rwanda. Ruvumbu took 3rd place overall in the 2014 Rwanda Cup of Excellence Competition and was given a Presidential Award for receiving a cupping score above 90 points.
